Cumberland Valley Electric was formed by local business and community leaders back in 1940 to bring electricity to the more rural areas of eastern Kentucky.
Today, we serve over 23,600 members/owners in Bell, Clay, Harlan, Knox, Laurel, Leslie, Letcher, McCreary, and Whitley counties in Kentucky as well as Claiborne and Campbell counties in Tennessee.
Our team of over 50 employees is dedicated to serving your power needs. They’re active in the communities we serve because this area is their home, too. We welcome you to the family of Cumberland Valley Electric Cooperative.
Our Mission
Our core mission is to provide highly reliable, reasonably priced electric service to each and every member. We continually invest in and maintain our distribution system to ensure this service reliability.
But as a cooperative, how we do business is just as important as what we deliver. We want to be your energy partner, helping you get the most for your energy dollar. We also strive to be an active participant and contributor in the communities in which we live and work.
